At the Twitter’s Chirp developer conference, Twitter has told how many total registered users they now have: 105,779,710. This was shown on a screen sitting on a stage behind twitter exec Biz Stone.  Twitter also says they are adding 300,000 users per day on average.

The number reported from twitter is still less than Facebook that recently passed 400 million users.

I should mention that with so many bots and accounts that were setup on twitter over the years for test accounts, advertising accounts, etc., the actual number of twitter accounts that are active is obviously a much lower number. However, it is nice to know the twitter official number reported!

Just when you are hearing all sorts of news from the twitter world such as twitters new advertising, here comes more news with something really new and from GOOGLE! It’s called the “Google Follow Finder” and it’s being developed to help you get more twitter followers!

First of all I should mention that this new google feature is totally new and you should not expect every possible feature to be ready today. However, it is a pretty good start and is a usable twitter tool to help get more twitter followers. Basically the name of “Google Follow Finder” says it all. i.e. It will help you to find others to follow on twitter that are also most likely to follow you back! However this is NOT an automated following service. Google Follow Finder is a tool to help you find others for following and that is about all it really is designed to do at this point.

When you first get to the start page for the Google Follow Finder, you will see the following form to enter any twitter username…

Once you enter the twitter username and click search you will then see your results. Under each name you will find a button for following the user OR you can simply click on the name to view the twitter users page on twitter…

Ok, so what are the flaws of this Google Follow Finder system? The first thing I noticed is that the results many times will include users you already follow. However, I can say that at least the Google Follow Finder does split the recommendations into “Tweeps you might like” and “Tweeps with similar followers”. This is a good start for this system but testing has shown errors for the connection process at twitter. No doubt they will get this fixed very quickly and I am sure that the features added in the near future will also be very useful.

Ok now the big question… With so many tools already available for helping you to find followers why should anyone care about this new Google Follow Finder? In my humble opinion I would say that just because this thing is being developed by Google is exciting in it self sense it is a pretty good bet that this twitter tool will no doubt have many many features added in the near future.

So let’s all keep a close eye on this tool and watch how it progresses! Meanwhile, Use this Follow Finder and see if it helps you to find new followers!
